Its funny how your perception can change when you have finally gotten a chance to use something .
when I first heard of Dyson vacuum cleaners I thought it was a bit of a gimmick { like rainbow vacuums} They took a while to filter through to Cape Town South Africa but the first glimpse I got of them were the ones brought back by people who had spent some time working in the UK.
there was no one here to fix them and I got the call.
Up to then and even now the vacuum market here has been dominated by Electrolux.
they still out sell every other brand by at least a 10 -1 ratio.
Dyson has now been available for a number of years , about 4 actually
The first Dyson I got my hands on was a dc 04 I was impressed but not overwhelmed.
then I got a dc05 and then a dc07 now this is were things changed.
What a fantastic machine it worked so well i started to use it in my house and its ability to clean up fine concrete dust after a build without clogging was amazing.
as time went but I started to toy with the idea of selling these machines.
i have a vacuum shop and have had a Electrolux and AEG sales and service agent's for a while , trouble is is that here in SA they don't bring in ver many premium models as this is not there market , so I approached Dyson SA and they were very willing to help me . I was given test samples to try out and was even given some older machines that customers had brought them to display in my shop like I do with the electrolux machines.I have been blown away by these machines
I have done allot of research on them including utube . I find it amazing that the only people to knock these machines are vacuum shop owners who are tied down to other brands , Miele and Morse come to mind . They can't sell them as they have deals with these company's and so are missing out on the huge sales success.
i watched one guy compare a dc07 to a Morse vacuum , which he is obviously a agent for.
The Morse might be a very good vacuum cleaner but this guy defeats this buy bad mouthing the Dyson with out knowing much about it. He and others claim the filters are expensive and must be replaced every six months
go read the info on the machine and you will see they are life time filters and need to be washed every six months. They are expensive when compared to a hoover filter but when compared to machines in there price bracket they are reasonable . You only will need to replace them if YOU damage them.
The machines are made of Plastic but its a good quality plastic and it last.
They also come with a five year warranty that covers every thing except abuse.
these machines do have there faults but so does every thing else out there and after seeing how Dyson test there vacuums I'm sure that my one will last a long time.
go and try one I haven't met any one who hates them except there competition

Dyson Dc18
I finally got hold of one of these machines through a friend at Dyson South Africa.
What a fantastic vacuum cleaner. unfortunately this model is no longer sold here but I love it .
It has the best carpet revitalising action of any Dyson I have tried and it looks so cool. like something out of those future industrial movies .
I am busy using it in my house as the dc25 is been used in my shop .I really enjoy using this machine. its light easy to move , thanks to a mini ball
It works nicely on hard floors even with the brush roll switched on , { you can switch it off}
My only criticism is that the cord is on the short side and the dusting brush it two small
I think this is a fantastic vacuum cleaner . Its like having a easy to move light weight bagless Kirby.
I am very impressed with this vacuum cleaner
DC25 update
Will its been a while now with this Dyson and I must say I like it allot.
I have been using it in my shop as well and when guys come in with their wives they are immediately fascinated by it and can't put it down. For some reason the wives love this {wonder why} .
Due to this vacuum I have actually decided to sell these machines and have been trying out different models to see which of them would suit my market best .
what was really great was that I was having building done and there was allot of concrete dust in our house , I have a nilfist attix 5 industrial vacuum and this clogged up with just a few passes , { the concrete dust was 1.5cm thick in places.
I tried out the Dyson with its brush switched off and it cleaned perfectly with a very small amount of dust actually getting to the filter. I did have to empty the container a few times as it filled up but that was it no cleaning filters every five minutes , no loss of suction

Dyson dc25
I was quiet excited to get hold of one of these initially , they looked really cool from an engineering standpoint
Its base is much larger in length and feels very loose when you vacuum At first it seems kind of heavy but you soon get use to the movement. I still like the other style head more but this one is growing on me.
It lifts the pile better than the dc 07 style unit
The hose takes allot of getting use to especially if you have never had a Dyson before
The filter has changed two, Dyson s have always had one of the easiest filters to clean , just remove , squeeze under water a few times , nearly pass out when you see the dirt that is coming out and let it dry , simple and they dry fast .
This new one however is different , its got a tough outer shell that makes it impossible to squeeze out effectively and so you have to soak it and give it a good rinse with clean water, as you can't sqeaze this filter out easily it takes longer to dry
Over all Its an interesting alternative vacuum I'm busy using the machine each day so I.ll post m ore on it soon
Dyson dc 07
I have had this machine for quiet a while now and am still impressed with it.
It has strong suction and filters can go a long while before needing cleaning a very long while
One of the great things about this style of dyson upright { dc 04 ,07,14,17,27}is that despite the fact that you can turn off the machines brush to go onto hard floors you don't have to. Unlike most other upright vacuums it doesn't spit the dirt out the back
on the down side the pipe is not as easy to use as some competitors especially when you just want to quickly clean around a obstacle when doing a fast vacuum and it doesn't lift the pile of the carpet as well as some other machines , some costing half its price.
Its a great vacuum and I would recommend it well

Electrolux Powerglide
I had a chance to test one of these machines long before it was launched . I must say it immediately impressed me. It looks really good in white with the orange accents.
It is a massive improvement over the vitesse machine.
Its filter is protected by a plastic shroud and on tests that I did didn't clog very easily.
It is well waited not to light but not to heavy either. the handle is great and feels very comfortable in your hand.
I put this machine into use in my carpet cleaning company for a couple of weeks, it fared very well after cleaning many houses most of which were dirty rent houses were people never seem to vacuum. I only emptied the dust container but never touched the filter after the end of its test period I opened the filter housing to note a filter that was covered in dust , how ever the vacuum was still pulling the same suction as before when I tested it.
The test really showed the machines true colours and I must say that they were 99.99% great .
That 1% is the only problem I could find on the whole machine , Its colour it looks great when new but shows diet very quickly especially on the handle .
When I did these tests I ran a range of competitors upright vacuums at the same time They all clogged up within a day and two even burnt out.
The only machine that kept up with the powerglide was the Dyson dc14 but that cost 3 times as much
I give the powerglide a big thumbs up , I bought a few for my cleaning company
